Configuring attendance: policies, IP ranges, shifts
Attendance in VipraGo is policy-driven: work-hour rules define expectations, IP/GPS verification defines trust, and shift templates define schedules.
Work-hour policies
- Attendance → Policies: define start/end times, minimum hours, grace period, and overtime threshold.
- Enable auto-absent marking after your configured window if no check-in arrives.
- Policies cascade — one org-level policy covers everyone except where a location/department override exists.
IP ranges & geo-fencing
- Attendance → IP Config: add office IP ranges (CIDR) for network verification.
- Add GPS geo-fences (center + radius) per location for field or hybrid verification.
- Out-of-range check-ins are flagged for review, not silently rejected — managers decide.
Shift templates
- Create templates: fixed, flexible, rotational, or split shifts with their own grace/overtime rules.
- Assign shifts per employee, team, or location; rotations advance automatically.
- Night-shift and holiday-work hours feed comp-off accrual when enabled.
Corrections
- Employees raise correction requests for missed punches; they route per your approval workflow.
- Every correction is audit-logged with before/after values.
Tips
- Start permissive (flag, don't block) for the first month, then tighten once patterns are visible.
FAQ
- Can office and field staff have different rules?
- Yes — give field staff a GPS-verified flexible policy and office staff an IP-verified fixed policy via location or department overrides.
- Does attendance sync to payroll automatically?
- Yes — approved attendance summaries drive loss-of-pay and overtime in payroll runs with no re-entry.
