Configuring leave: types, carryforward, comp-off
VipraGo ships 14 configurable leave types with per-type quotas, approval chains, carryforward rules, and automatic comp-off accrual.
Leave types & quotas
- Organization → Leave Settings: enable the types you use (casual, sick, earned, comp-off, maternity/paternity, and more).
- Set annual quotas, accrual frequency (annual/monthly), and notice-period requirements per type.
- Mark types as paid/unpaid — unpaid types integrate with payroll's LOP calculation.
Approval & auto-approval
- Define the approval chain per type (manager-only, manager → admin, or custom).
- Enable auto-approval for requests that fully satisfy policy: sufficient balance, adequate notice, and team capacity above your floor.
- Ambiguous requests always escalate to a human.
Carryforward & year-end
- Per type, choose: carry forward up to a cap, encash, or lapse at year end.
- Year-end processing runs automatically and is itemized in the audit log.
Comp-off
- Enable comp-off accrual from approved overtime or holiday work.
- Accrued comp-off appears as a balance and is consumed like any other leave type, with expiry rules you control.
Tips
- Managers see team capacity before approving — coverage problems surface at decision time, not after.
FAQ
- Can leave policies differ by country?
- Yes — the policy hierarchy supports country-level rules (e.g., different statutory minimums) with location overrides below them.
- How do employees apply?
- From the app, or by asking VipraBot — “apply casual leave Friday” — which files the same request through the same approval chain.
